About Us

The Neighborhood Services Department has five divisions. Please read the division descriptions below or view the Departmental Organizational Chart.

Administrative Services Division

  • Monitors grant funded programs, including the Community Development Block Grants for nonprofits and neighborhood groups
  • Administers the Neighborhood Initiative Area Program for comprehensive neighborhood revitalization
  • Maintains efforts for continued funding via the city of Phoenix congressional briefing booklet and recognizes outstanding Community Development Block Grant funded programs and nonprofit partners
  • Oversees the departments’ budget and accounting section which receives two-thirds of its funding from federal, state and local grants, and one-third from city general purpose funds. To learn more about the department and the city’s budget please visit phoenix.gov/BUDGET/index.html
  • Human Resources section handles department personnel and payroll matters for more than 200 staff
  • The Information Systems staff supports and maintains department staff personal and laptop computers, printers and scanners

Community Development Division

  • Promotes home ownership, housing development and oversees foreclosure prevention efforts
  • Supports commercial building development and rehabilitation
  • Coordinates the city’s Consolidated Planning activities
  • Coordinates infrastructure improvements and land assembly
  • Supports West Phoenix Revitalization Efforts
